Being a student was not nearly as expensive for me when I was going to university in the late 1970′s as it would be now. However many years later, I decided to return to school to update my skills. Fourteen months of extra education cost me over $15,000. I was glad that my marks were high because my provincial government gave me a bursary to cover almost two thirds of that cost.
That made me happy, because I still had a house and other expenses that needed tending to. Starting an education is one thing but returning to get more education after being in the workforce for a time is quite another.
Yes, times they are a changing…sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worse. Either way, we take life as it comes and make the best of it. Getting a good education is still one of the best investments you can make. But like all investments, there is usually a huge cost – TIME or MONEY – or BOTH.
I decided to start this blog after I had been working for a while and had just finished paying off the balance of my own student loans. My mistake was taking too long to pay it back, although not so long when I consider that a few of my friends are still paying their student loans off to this day.
I hope this blog helps you find the information and resources you need.
